Welcome

Welcome to Room 1, Term 2, 2017.

The students have made a great start to school and are enjoying learning their new routines.

We have some groovers in our midst so quick brain breaks to dance it out are a must.

I look forward to sharing our journey with you through our blog just as soon as we have all our forms collected to allow our use of photos.

Thanks for the support you have given your children so far.  They are doing really well.

Ronald McDonald

Today Ronald McDonald came to school to teach us about being safe in our cars and around roads.

Ronald told us to make it click.

He also showed us how to be safe when walking and crossing roads.

Always walk on the footpath on the house side.
Look out for sneaky driveways.
when we cross the road STOP!, LOOK! and LISTEN! before we cross.

Check out our photos below of Ronald McDonalds show.

MAKING INSTRUMENTS

We made musical instruments on Tuesday.  They made a  sound.
We hear sounds with our ears because the vibrations are travelling in the air around us.

SOUND LEARNING

This is what we are learning about.  COOL STUFF.

Ngā Rā o te Wiki - Days of the Week

Miss Yu - Science Experiment.

Miss Yu is Room 1's student teacher.
She has been teaching in Room 1 for 3 weeks and on Wednesday she took us outside to experiment with string telephones. Room 1 loved trying to get the right tension on the string to be able to hear their buddy talking.

We have been learning about sound and Miss Yu was showing us how sound can created through vibrations.

After our experiment Room 1 wrote stories about what they did and learnt.
We are enjoying having Miss Yu teach us. She is awesome!  Just like us.

Duffy Books- Brodie Kane

On Friday Room 1 received their first Duffy books for the year.  We had a lovely assembly with our visitor Brodie Kane.   The children really enjoyed her personality and learning about her and her achievements in life.  It was a great time and we love our new books.  I hope you enjoyed reading them with your children.

Below is the link to the Duffy Kids song we sing at these assemblies.

Brodie even posted about our assembly on TWITTER.

The coolest experience ever. Presenting to Manurewa Central School, such wonderful children!
